Annie decided it was a good day for a nap - IN MY CHAIR! No No No No.... But I hated to bother her when she looked so peaceful so.... |
OJ has his own place, and likes it that way. He don't move much from one day to the next. |
Outside, this is what the beginnings of the Blizzard of '21 looked like. Ominous. |
The parking lane between the old granary and the shop is a wind tunnel! We didn't plan it that way, it just is. |
My weenies are made with synthetic (man made) collagen casings. They are easy to use but they don't 'twist' right. So, I just tie them off with string. EEEEther or IIIIther. It all tastes the same. |
Ya can't have weenies without beans. I like to can my own beans, too. |
I use a cute little snow plow on the front of the Ranger to dig out from the snowstorms. It works like a charm, and it is fun to do. |
Delightful post, warm, cozy, and homey. I wish we would get some snow. Or a good snowstorm. The meager amount of snow we have on the ground has been either melting or evaporating.
ReplyDeleteOur good neighbor has been making liverwurst and head cheese. They share with us and what a treat. The head cheese just arrived today so that's yet to be experienced. The liverwurst came yesterday and was enjoyed last night on crackers as our dinner. What we need in this world is more people to make their own homemade weenies and liverwurst. Lost arts that we should (re)learn and hold onto with all our might.
Down here where I live, we get huge snows, but then sunshine that melts it all. It is a slick mess! I live in what the USDA maps used to call 'The Hook.' Our weather is more like Minneapolis, but unpredictable.
DeleteYes! I'm a liverwurst fan. Headcheese? Not so much. But you are right: People should learn to make their own sausages. Once you've had 'em, it is hard to buy 'em from the grocery.
You are a hoot – a capable, hard-working, animal-loving, boyish hoot! You're the second blogger I follow that cans their own beans; I'm intrigued. But then again, it just isn't that hard for me to cook up a pressure cooker full, and I often freeze extras for "fast food."
ReplyDeleteI try not to be 'childish' but I do intend to be 'child like.' How can you not want to keep the enthusiasm of a little kid?! Life is too short to just get old and grouchy and spend all your time complaining and counting your money. I'll play to the end if I can!
ReplyDeleteA pint of beans and a bowl of rice, and I have the beginnings of a quick evening meal. No thought, no prep, no problem. So I can my beans. Having been involved in chemical manufacturing for a long time (our company made wood finishing and finish removal products) I like to know what is in my stuff. I'm suspicious of what other folks might have put in it.
And I'm glad I can make you grin without being offended. Cheers!
